THE TRIBUTE BY THE RIVER

The little waves shattered on the rocks When the carts cut the river The people, goats all followed them. The old women sat eagerly and hopelessly  on the boulders in the shore She sat there looking to the broken bridge, up on her left,  The children and women looked pale  wnd where eager to leave the place. The old women stood vup and asked the man in red turban. 'Is the decision to leave this this place final' Yes ' said the ma n without looking to her face. Another group of carts alsao crossed the river. Little Ram went to his grandma and said ' grandma you are not coming with us.Tears came out from the oldwomens eyes. 'no' was the reply. She began thinking about the past'agout the river which was her companion throughout. When she was 8 year old she was first tauhht to swim by her father in the same river. She spent morninga and evenings swimming in it. Later herfmain routine with her beloved was to sail in a boat. After the youthful stage'she visited  the river regularly to watch her children swimming 'to chat with her husband and in the evening to bath and wash. She saw her children making bridges acreoss it. And now she sits lonely in the banks of the river. The other people have crossed the river and started disappering between the big trees. She said to the river 'Oh' I can't never leave you my dear,my soul,my everything. And my dear river let me swim in you forever' She jumped  in to the river,in to the unending darkness. The river covered her body with pearls.A TRIBUTE BY THE RIVER.                     Iris  written almost ten years ago...
